Triangle Lift-A-Thon to Raise Money for LAMs Disease

Triangle Fraternity's RIT Chapter has been raising money to help one of our friend's mother, Shelley Hannah, who has been diagnosed with LAMs disease. When she was was diagnosed with lymphangioleiomyomatosis , or LAM’s disease. In summary, LAM’s disease is a rare lung disease which almost exclusively affects women during their child bearing years. There is currently no cure for the disease, but, patients are given the choice if getting a lung transplant to help prolong their life.  Shelly opted for the lung transplant and was put on the list on September 29th, 2008. She was fortunate enough to receive the transplant this past fall.  The problem is that not everything that she needs for the transplant is covered by insurance.

Triangle Donates $600 to Lung Transplant Patient

Shelley Hannah was diagnosed 10 years ago with lymphangioleiomyomatosis, otherwise known as LAMs Disease.  The disease affects middle aged women where normal lung tissue is destroyed and replace it with cysts. As a result, air cannot move freely in and out of the lungs, and the lungs cannot supply enough oxygen to the body's other organs. A few months ago Shelley was sent to the hospital to receive a double lung transplant in a final attempt to save her life.  The Brothers of Triangle received word of Ms.

Pie the Frat Guy

I am please to announce that we have raised over $300 during Brick City Weekend with our annual "Pie the Frat Guy" philanthropy event!  The Brothers of Triangle stood on the Quarter Mile all day Saturday as passerbys kindly donated a dollar in return for the chance to toss a few pies.  All of the proceeds will be donated to the American Diabetes Association (ADA).

CANs for LAMs

The CANs for LAMs kickoff will be this Wednesday 9/16/09 at 8:30 in NRH 1250.  LAMs actually stands for Lymphangioleiomyomatosis and is a terminal lung disease that only affects women.  A mother of someone very close to Triangle Fraternity is living with the disease and we would like to do something to help.  Come to NRH 1250 and learn more about the disease and learn how you can help.  For more information check out this site http://people.rit.edu/~cmh5500/imm/projects/project3/index.html
