Triangle Lift-A-Thon to Raise Money for LAMs Disease
Triangle Fraternity's RIT Chapter has been raising money to help one of our friend's mother, Shelley Hannah, who has been diagnosed with LAMs disease. When she was was diagnosed with lymphangioleiomyomatosis , or LAM’s disease. In summary, LAM’s disease is a rare lung disease which almost exclusively affects women during their child bearing years. There is currently no cure for the disease, but, patients are given the choice if getting a lung transplant to help prolong their life. Shelly opted for the lung transplant and was put on the list on September 29th, 2008. She was fortunate enough to receive the transplant this past fall. The problem is that not everything that she needs for the transplant is covered by insurance. The total costs that our family must pay is $10,000. This is where you guys come in! We are going to be conducting a Lift-A-Thon Thursday of week 10 (February 18th). Brothers will be collecting money before this event in the form of donations. These donations can be done 1 of 2 ways: Either a person can donate a set value of money (for example $5.00) of they can pledge to donate an amount per pound that that brother lifts (example $.05 per pound) Any money left over will be sent straight to the LAM Foundation. For any more information or to make a donation you can contact Jason Buoni at either (610)-737-6617, or any other Triangle Brother at RIT.
